On April 24, the conclusion and commendation conference of the 3rd Global "Ideas for WTO Reform" Essay Competition and the Seminar on "WTO Reform and Innovation" were held at Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE). The event was guided by the Department of WTO Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce and co-hosted by WTO Chairs at SUIBE in Shanghai and at University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing. 对照阅读

The competition required submissions in English and was open to participants worldwide. After multiple rounds of anonymous review by an expert committee, 3 First Prizes, 6 Second Prizes, 10 Third Prizes and 11 Honorable Mentions were awarded. Winning students came from universities including China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, UIBE, SUIBE, University of Delhi (India), Kathmandu University (Nepal) and Tashkent State University of Law (Uzbekistan). 同类内容

Five UIBE students received awards: Huang Jie (Master's student in International Law, Class of 2025) won the First Prize; Chen Anqi (Master's student in International Law, Class of 2025) and Hou Kaiwen (undergraduate student in Law-International Economics and Trade dual program, Class of 2022) won the Second Prizes; Li Bin (Master's student in International Law, Class of 2024) won the Third Prize; and Wu Yiyuan (Master's student in International Law, Class of 2025) received an Honorable Mention. 同题参见

During the seminar session, as representatives of the winning students, Huang Jie delivered a presentation titled "Re-coupling through Rules: A Multilateral Framework on Economic Security and Supply Chain Resilience", Chen Anqi presented on "Proposal on Improving the Application of WTO Security Exception Clauses to Cross-Border Data Flows", and Hou Kaiwen spoke on "WTO Subsidy Reform: Establishing a Safe Harbour for Global Public Goods". All three delivered their presentations in English and received positive feedback from the commenting experts, demonstrating the high level of academic engagement among UIBE students.

This marks another consecutive year of outstanding achievements for WTO Chair at UIBE, following our students' success in the 2nd edition of the competition in 2025. Professor Zuo Haicong supervised Huang Jie, while Professor Ji Wenhua, Co-Chair of the WTO Chair Programme at UIBE, supervised Chen Anqi, Hou Kaiwen, Li Bin and Wu Yiyuan. The winning students noted that they had benefited greatly from their studies in international trade and law-related courses. This achievement fully reflects UIBE's remarkable progress in participating in the WTO Chair Programme, cultivating foreign-related legal talents, and serving major national strategic needs.
